Why 'Mooface Designs'?

"Moon Face" was the name that the midwife gave me in the delivery suite as I had a very round face. My big brother could not say "Moon Face" and would always call me "Moo Face" instead. This nick name stuck for many years but in my teens somehow changed to Cow Bags. I'm not really sure how or why it changed, but cows have always been the constant!  As a side note I love all things cow and collect ceramic ones. The name seemed apt on all accounts.

A Bit About Me

Hi, my name is Sherrie-Ann but I've never used my full name, I've either called myself Sherrie or Annie so don't be surprised if you see either name.

I've always been a creative person and when it came to choosing the subjects at school, Needlework and Art were top of my list & most of my working life has been earning money in a creative capacity in one way or another. I worked as an owl keeper earlier on in life and this deepened my love for all animals. When my three children came along, which included a set of twins, things got very busy at home but I managed to find time to study interior design as a distraction to domesticity. I have a qualification but I've never used it commercially. When the children started school, I was lucky enough to work freelance and hand paint ceramic tiles for a well-respected tile company, these tiles were exported all over the world.

My next big adventure was to offer a bespoke service to hand dye silk an satin shoes and handbags predominantly for brides, bridesmaids and mother of the bride to match their outfits. This meant I had to mix the colours by hand, a dash of this colour, a dash of that colour, until the exact colour was achieved. I loved offering this service from my custom-made studio in the beautiful county of Devon but alas a change in circumstances meant that this had to change.

More recently when I sadly lost my son in a car accident, I made a memory quilt from his clothes, and this deepened my love for working with fabric. Sewing was my saviour at this very testing time and now the quilt proudly hangs in my sewing room as a constant reminder of him. I went on to make a liberty applique quilt, decided that I really liked this medium and wanted to know more about it. This was how my obsession with all things applique and collage began. So here we are today with Mooface Designs!
